The project took us to many cities in Canada: Vancouver, Toronto and Ottawa. We also went to some mining sites throughout Colombia, including Marmato, Buriticá and Santurbán.
In order to offer a broad perspective on the subject, we interviewed leaders of the industry, politicians, lawyers, activists, traditional miners, engineers, ecologists, and experts in mining and in armed conflict in Colombia.
We filmed in the Toronto – TSX Stock Exchange, we entered the tunnels of large multinational companies, small artisan caves, and even rivers where gold is extracted the same way pre-Columbian cultures did many centuries ago.
We saw first-hand the technology used to mine the gold, the processes of metal fusion and the social and environmental impact of gold mining in Colombia.
